The Executive Director of Digital Value Creation is responsible for streamlining operations, driving initiatives that reduce costs and improve operational efficiency. This role leads projects that assess and leverage alternate revenue streams, through technology enabled workflow redesign across administrative and support functions for Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS). This role is part of the DHTS senior/executive leadership team and will report directly to the Chief Digital Officer.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (Master's degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, technology, or related industries, with a focus on workflow optimization, product management, telehealth, or strategic consulting.
• Demonstrated success in leading large-scale transformation initiatives and cross-functional teams.
• Proven track record of achieving ROI, revenue growth, or cost savings through technology-driven solutions.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement systems, payer contracting, revenue cycle management, and digital health technologies.
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications, data analytics, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience in evaluating and integrating partnerships, joint ventures, or mergers/acquisitions.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Enterprise-Wide Workflow Redesign: In partnership with the Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO) and Chief Data Officer (CDO), align clinical and non-clinical workflows using analytics, automation, and emerging digital tools.
• Revenue Cycle Optimization & Payer Strategies: Serve as a subject matter expert and leverage trends in reimbursement models and payer contracting to improve prior authorization rates, billing processes, and reduce denial rates and enhance revenue collection.
• Financial Modeling & Value Tracking: Responsible for building robust ROI models to measure financial impact of each initiative, in coordination with the chief Operating Officer/Chief of Staff and Finance teams.
• New Service Line Development: Collaborate with service line leaders to expand or create tele-radiology, tele-ICU, or other virtual specialty consultation programs as new revenue sources.
• Strategic Technology Partnerships: Engage with the Executive Director for Industry Partnerships/Data Licensing and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to evaluate, negotiate, and launch new technology partnerships or acquisitions.
• AI-Enabled Solutions for Administrative Functions: Collaborate with DIHI to identify the highest-impact administrative use cases for AI and machine learning.
• Backoffice Operational Transformation: Identify high-volume, high-cost administrative workflows and implement AI-driven, process-optimized solutions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Team Development: Collaborate with the senior team to align strategic roadmaps and avoid duplication.
• Culture of Continuous Improvement: Develop effective collaborative-working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Governance & Communication: Coordinate with the Strategic Director to develop ROI updates for the Board, senior executives, and frontline staff.
