Role Snapshot Position: Executive Director (Hospice) with Bereavement and Volunteer Services Oversight Focus: Site executive leadership and organizational oversight of bereavement and volunteer services Schedule: Full-time Work Setting: Hybrid with on-site leadership responsibilities Coverage: Designated hospice site with organizational oversight of bereavement and volunteer programs Role Summary This position serves in a dual capacity as both the Executive Director and Administrator of Record for a designated hospice site and the Director of Bereavement and Volunteer Services for the organization. The role provides executive oversight of daily hospice operations while ensuring standardized, compliant, and compassionate bereavement and volunteer programs across all sites. This position balances regulatory accountability, operational leadership, and programmatic stewardship in alignment with hospice Conditions of Participation and organizational mission Overview In the Executive Director capacity, this role leads site-level hospice operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, clinical and administrative coordination, and interdisciplinary team performance. In the Director of Bereavement and Volunteer Services capacity, the role provides organizational leadership for bereavement and volunteer programs, supporting policy development, workflow standardization, training, and regulatory readiness across hospice locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field such as nursing, music therapy, divinity, or healthcare administration required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in hospice, home health, or healthcare operations
  • Ability to meet applicable state requirements to serve as Hospice Administrator or Alternate Administrator as needed
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Texas Home and Community Support Services Agency Administrator License in accordance with state regulations
  • Working knowledge of hospice operations, interdisciplinary team structure, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience supervising administrative staff and supporting operational performance through coaching and accountability
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with ability to manage competing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated Administrator of Record for the assigned hospice site in compliance with state and federal hospice regulations
  • Provide executive leadership for daily hospice operations, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across clinical and administrative functions
  • Oversee site-level leadership including Clinical Services, Business Office, Medical Director collaboration, and Volunteer services
  • Ensure compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, state licensure requirements, accreditation standards, and internal policies
  • Lead quality assessment and performance improvement activities, including survey preparedness and corrective action planning
  • Support staffing, hiring, performance management, and professional development in collaboration with People Operations and executive leadership
  • Provide organizational leadership and oversight for bereavement and volunteer services across hospice programs
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized policies, workflows, documentation, and training related to bereavement and volunteer services
  • Ensure bereavement and volunteer services are fully integrated into interdisciplinary care planning and IDG processes
  • Monitor program performance indicators including bereavement timelines, volunteer utilization, and compliance metrics
  • Support site and organizational audits, accreditation surveys, and regulatory reviews related to bereavement and volunteer services
  • Engage community partners and referral sources to support hospice services, volunteer engagement, and bereavement outreach
  • Provide on-call executive leadership support and ensure coverage for administrator responsibilities as required
  • Maintain visible, mission-aligned leadership presence across teams and programs
