The Executive Director of the Greif Foundation will shape and lead Greif’s philanthropic and community engagement strategy, advancing our commitment to create lasting positive impact. This is a highly visible role that combines strategic vision, entrepreneurial mindset, and external presence with hands-on execution. The Executive Director will define and shape what success looks like for the Foundation, building impact measures based on best practices from leading corporate foundations. They will oversee operations, grantmaking, colleague volunteerism, and community partnerships while serving as the primary liaison to the Foundation Board.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in philanthropy, Corporate Social Responsibility, nonprofit, or foundation management
  • Hands-on experience building or launching a foundation (strategy, governance, grantmaking infrastructure, measurement)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; demonstrated ability to build and grow programs from the ground up
  • Proven ability to define success measures and track impact against goals
  • Strong executive presence with outstanding public speaking, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Credibility and influence in engaging senior executives, Boards, and external stakeholders
  • Financial acumen and compliance expertise
  • Global mindset with experience working across cultures and geographies

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Foundation Board on long-term strategy, governance, and compliance
  • Define and track measures of success and impact using industry best practices
  • Design and manage grantmaking programs, including nonprofit vetting, approvals, and reporting
  • Lead colleague volunteerism and community involvement initiatives that inspire pride and participation
  • Serve as a visible presence in the community, representing Greif in public forums, events, and civic initiatives
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with nonprofit, civic, and community leaders
  • Collaborate with Communications and other functions to amplify the Foundation’s impact internally and externally
  • Manage budget and ensure compliance with all regulations
