About The Position

As a key member of the Technical Operations Leadership Team, the Executive Director, Supply Chain, will drive the strategic vision, operational execution, and regulatory compliance of Crinetics’ commercial and clinical supply operations. This role ensures the seamless and compliant global distribution of commercial and investigational medicinal products, supporting clinical programs critical to our pipeline and ensuring the reliable supply of marketed products globally. Reporting to the SVP, Technical Operations, this leader will collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Quality, CMC, and Commercial teams, providing senior-level guidance on commercial and clinical supply strategy.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or equivalent (BS/MS), with 15 years of experience, preferably in a scientific or pharmaceutical discipline.
  • 152+ years of leadership experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a proven track record of leading and scaling clinical supply chain organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and execute long-term strategic goals for global supply chain operations, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Extensive experience engaging with executive leadership teams, including presenting strategic plans, risk mitigation strategies, and operational performance metrics.
  • Proven success managing complex global supply chain operations, including vendor partnerships, contract negotiations, and compliance with international regulatory agencies (FDA, EMA, PMDA, etc.).
  • Strong financial acumen, including supply chain and logistics budget oversight, cost efficiency initiatives, and long-term investment planning.
  • Enterprise-wide leadership experience, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments, ensuring supply chain and logistics integration into R&D and commercial strategies.
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams, including succession planning, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Proven expertise in managing regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance strategies in collaboration with Quality and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Deep technical knowledge of clinical trial supply planning, including forecasting, IVRS/IRT systems, inventory management, and GMP/GCP compliance.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership, external partners, and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop drug supply strategy, planning, and overall management of all aspects of drug supply chain activities, including global Phase I – III clinical studies and commercial drug supply chain activities.
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Commercial and Clinical Supply Chain and associated department staff.
  • Provide operational leadership and oversight of commercial drug packaging, labeling, distribution, and 3PL activities in collaboration with the commercial sales organization.
  • Manage global supply chain activities and demonstrate operational excellence in developing and executing interdependent workflows with Clinical Operations, Quality Assurance, and Global Project Team management to ensure state-of-the-art rapid and cost-effective processes are in place to achieve on-time delivery of medicine to patients every time.
  • Contribute vital tactical support and leadership in supply chain and logistics management while identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities to improve commercial and clinical capacity, forecasting, and planning models for all marketed products and IP materials including comedications, comparators, processes, and IVRS management.
  • Implement customized global supply chain and logistics best practices aligned to the company's corporate vision; define appropriate and meaningful performance metrics commensurate with the industry standards and drive operational efficiency.
  • Establish operating policies and procedures and comprehensively coordinate complex global supply chain operations, inventories, materials, and procurement, while ensuring compliance with worldwide regulations and guidelines.
  • Coordinate drug supply delivery timelines with Clinical and CMC; Packaging, Labeling, and Distribution CROs; and indirectly with GMP manufacturers, QA, and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Lead the team in monitoring and tracking global supply inventories of product at both the clinical site and commercial levels; maintain forecasts and provide inventory and logistics management to ensure drug distribution plans are seamlessly integrated from starting materials for API to packaging and labeling at Contract Packaging and Procurement Vendors.
  • Provide Supply Chain and logistics project leadership and management and act as knowledgeable resource for establishing effective collaboration with Clinical and Commercial Operations for seamless delivery of IP and marketed products to patients worldwide.
  • Manage extensive internal and external touchpoints and maintain close communications with all stakeholders to ensure the adequate supply of patient-centric product throughout the duration of multiple worldwide clinical trials and global commercial distribution for marketed products.
  • Optimize all aspects of the supply chain, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and distribution to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of best-in-class S&OP strategies, ensuring alignment across functions, driving continuous improvement, optimizing inventory, service levels, and costs.
  • Lead, coach, mentor and develop direct reports and provide career development opportunities in support of their individual development plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.
