About The Position

RaceTrac is looking for an experienced and forward‑thinking Executive Director of Enterprise Applications to lead the strategy, performance, and evolution of our enterprise application ecosystem. This senior leader will oversee more than 400 applications—including Workday Financials, Workday for HR, ServiceNow, Salesforce, and key corporate systems—and ensure they are reliable, scalable, and aligned with RaceTrac’s long‑term business goals. This role is ideal for a seasoned applications leader with deep Workday expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to influence at the highest levels of the organization. As a key member of our technology leadership team, you’ll partner closely with the Senior Leadership Team, guide a team of managers and technical professionals, and play a critical role in RaceTrac’s succession‑planning strategy. What You’ll Do • Set the vision and strategy for RaceTrac’s enterprise applications, ensuring systems support growth, efficiency, and operational excellence. • Provide leadership for the design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise applications—with a strong emphasis on Workday. • Build trusted partnerships with SLT, business owners, Finance, HR, and IT to ensure alignment and shared accountability. • Oversee application roadmaps, licensing, vendor relationships, and total cost of ownership. • Champion new technologies, including AI‑enabled capabilities, that enhance automation, decision‑making, and user experience. • Lead, coach, and develop a team of managers and technical experts; build a strong leadership pipeline and support succession planning. • Drive enterprise‑wide process improvements that simplify work for team members and elevate the guest experience. • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to strengthen RaceTrac’s competitive advantage. • Serve as the executive escalation point for critical Corporate Applications issues. What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months) • Strong, trust‑based relationships with SLT, business owners, and IT leadership. • A clear, actionable roadmap for modernizing and optimizing the enterprise application portfolio—especially Workday Financials and HR. • Improved communication and alignment between IT and business units. • Early wins in system stability, process optimization, or cost efficiency. • Demonstrated strategic foresight in identifying opportunities for AI, automation, and scalable enterprise solutions. • Recognition as a high‑potential leader capable of stepping into broader executive responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience leading enterprise applications in complex environments (retail or multi‑unit experience a plus).
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing managers and multiple functional areas.
  • Deep expertise in Workday—across both HR and Finance—with a strong emphasis on Workday Financials.
  • Proven experience leading large enterprise platforms (Workday, ServiceNow, Salesforce, SAP, etc.).
  • Strong executive communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with C‑level leaders.
  • Experience supporting M&A activities from a systems and integration perspective.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to evolving business needs.

  • Identify and maintain overarching strategy behind the applications for which they are responsible, considering best practice as well as organizational and user needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of organization and user needs and provide information about capabilities, changes, and technical limitations of software.

  • Strengthens key external vendor relationships to maximize RaceTrac’s position in the marketplace.

  • Approves, prioritizes, and monitors all department work and expenditures.
  • Ensures all decisions, projects, and process improvements are aligned with RaceTrac’s strategic vision.
  • Builds and maintains a change management culture that creates value for internal stakeholders and the organization.
  • Leads and develops employees.
  • Manages strategic projects that drive streamlined processes and improved efficiencies through completion.
  • Models and promotes RaceTrac’s Core Values, Leadership Qualities, and The RaceTrac Way throughout personal interactions and department work.
  • Develops succession plans for each role to make sure RaceTrac is set up for success when people leave the organization or move within it.
  • Introduces new technologies that improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Functions as the supportive decision maker for all escalated Corporate Applications issues that may arise.
