About The Position

The Executive Director, Business Development & Licensing will have responsibility for leading the evaluation of external growth opportunities for Biogen and, where appropriate, executing transactions to access the assets of interest. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the business development & licensing strategy for multiple strategic therapeutic areas that align with Biogen’s core and growth therapeutic areas. In addition, this role will lead a group of BD&L professionals who are all aligned to deliver on these important strategic goals. This role is highly cross-functional and will report to the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and will be a key member of the Corporate Development Leadership Team. Responsibilities

• Develop and execute BD&L strategies aligned to specific therapeutic areas within area of responsibility
• Assess growth opportunities, lead cross-functional search, evaluation and diligence teams and negotiate transactions
• Consider broad corporate priorities and participate in strategy planning for financial investment trade-off decisions required for corporate growth
• Participate in and lead negotiations in business transactions
• Work effectively with legal, finance, commercial, clinical and scientific, and corporate development teams and make business development proposals to senior management
• Lead evaluations of all aspects of therapeutic drug programs from preclinical through clinical stages across the relevant assessment areas: proposed clinical benefit, mechanism, preclinical data, manufacturing, regulatory strategy, clinical development path, intellectual property and commercial potential
• Lead a team of BD&L professionals, ensuring alignment of goals and priorities to deliver on business objectives
