About The Position
The State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented professional to fill the position of Executive Director. The State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers was established in 1935 to protect the public health and safety through the regulation of the practice of professional engineering in the State of Maine. The Board establishes and maintains the standards of professional engineering. The position provides leadership, vision and guidance to the Board. The position coordinates long-range planning, oversees policy development and direction, oversees budgeting and resources, directs the implementation of strategy, and coordinates with state agencies and outside entities to fulfill Board objectives. This position provides vision and leadership in developing planning, objectives and goals; formulates policy consistent with the department strategic plan, statute and rules; allocates the budget and resources; prioritizes work; evaluates the effectiveness of systems and processes; adapts technology to enhance effectiveness; approves licenses; reviews compliance with professional development requirements; coordinates and oversees complaints; oversees daily operations and licensing process; maintains a presence with the national council and coordinates with engineering societies and university educational programs; creates educational materials; and acts as liaison for statutes and rulemaking.
