About The Position
This is a senior executive nursing position in a large County Health Department, requiring training and experience well beyond that required to be licensed as registered Professional Nurse. The person in this position has operational responsibility for multiple health services in addition to directing public health nursing, including quality assurance. These services include all public health and specialty care clinics such as School Health, Dental Sealant Program, Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (FBCCP), Family Planning, Specialty HIV, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) services, the Community Nursing program, as well as health support activities including medical records security and maintenance and client eligibility and access. The incumbent is required to exercise independent judgement in formulating policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and the preparation and administration of division budget.
Requirements
- Active Florida Registered Nursing in accordance with FS 464 or Advanced Practice Registered Nursing license in accordance with FS 464.12, or a multistate license from another Compact State
- Valid driver’s license
- Five or more years of professional nursing experience
- Knowledge of nursing practice and administration
- Progressive management experience
- Public health experience
- Knowledge of and experience with contract management
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise and manage the work of others
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, public health, or related field
- Five or more years of Public Health experience
- Five or more years of progressive management/leadership experience supervising nursing teams
Responsibilities
- Directs the nursing activities of staff working in multiple programs with complete accountability for all the administrative, supervisory, and technical components of these programs.
- Assumes leadership responsibility for the delivery of integrated clinical and community health services in the Sarasota County Health Department.
- Responsible for the overall management of assigned Clinical and Community Health Services contracts and projects to ensure compliance per Department of Health procedures.
- Provides direction for public health nursing education programs.
