About The Position

The Executive Chef is responsible for the overall success of daily kitchen operations at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk. This role involves leading the culinary team, managing food-related functions, and ensuring high-quality food production while maximizing financial performance. The Executive Chef will guide and develop staff, maintain sanitation and food standards, and oversee all food preparation areas, including banquets, room service, and restaurants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 6 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related area.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 4 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for overall success of daily kitchen operations.
  • Exhibits culinary talents by performing tasks while leading the staff.
  • Supervises all kitchen areas to ensure consistent, high-quality product is produced.
  • Guides and develops staff, including direct reports.
  • Ensures sanitation and food standards are achieved.
  • Oversees all food preparation areas and support areas.
  • Leads kitchen management team and provides direction for day-to-day operations.
  • Sets performance standards and monitors performance of kitchen staff.
  • Communicates the importance of safety procedures and ensures employee understanding.
  • Manages department controllable expenses including food cost and supplies.
  • Participates in the budgeting process for areas of responsibility.
  • Provides direction for menu development and monitors food quality.
  • Ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Provides and supports service behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service and establishes guidelines for expectations.
