About The Position

Chartwells K12 is seeking a passionate Executive Chef to help lead the culinary vision for the Oshkosh Area School District, serving over 9,000 students across 20 schools. This is a unique opportunity to revitalize and grow a vibrant catering program that brings creativity and excitement to school and community events. You'll work closely with our Executive Chef for Production and Resident District Manager to deliver memorable food experiences that go beyond the cafeteria. You'll help guide a team of up to 75 culinary professionals and energize everything from student tastings to staff celebrations. Along the way, you'll drive engaging programs like Mood Boost, Student Choice, Discovery Kitchen, and Global Eats—turning every meal into a celebration of flavor and connection. Requirements

  • Associate's degree desired or equivalent experience in culinary arts.
  • 5+ years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, with robust catering experience.
  • Shown success in high-volume, sophisticated foodservice operations, with a strong foundation in institutional and batch cooking.
  • Hands-on chef experience is essential, accompanied by extensive knowledge of food trends.
  • Dedication to food quality, production, sanitation, cost control, and presentation is a MUST!
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and email systems.
  • Willingness to actively engage in client satisfaction programs and activities.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable, highlighting a dedication to food safety.

Responsibilities

  • Develops regular and specialty menus in line with K12 standards, ensuring adherence to portioning and presentation guidelines.
  • Trains kitchen staff in food preparation, equipment operation, and safety protocols, promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Establishes and maintains detailed cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment and work areas.
  • Handles inventory of food and supplies, optimizing utilization while ensuring vital products are readily available.
  • Ensures compliance with health and sanitation regulations through meticulous adherence to department procedures and participation in audits.
  • Actively participates in departmental meetings, staff development initiatives, and professional programs to stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of a dining service operation.
