About The Position

Sodexo's Campus Segment is seeking an Executive Chef 2 to lead the Catering Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), a private research university in Troy, NY. This role requires a hands-on culinarian with strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to deliver both high-volume production and elevated, VIP-level cuisine. The Executive Chef will oversee all on- and off-campus catering operations, collaborate with campus partners, and ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.

Requirements

• Proven ability to produce gourmet, high-volume cuisine and deliver VIP-level service.
• Strong background in menu development, purchasing, and financial controls.
• Excellent leadership and team development skills with a passion for mentoring staff.
• Creative approach to food trends and culinary innovation.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Working knowledge of food inventory, ordering, and production management systems.
• Commitment to excellence in quality, service, and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Lead the culinary operations for all catering events, from large-scale productions to intimate, high-end dinners.
• Design and execute custom menus that reflect creativity, quality, and precision.
• Manage purchasing, inventory, food cost analysis, and production forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with Sodexo culinary standards, recipes, and food quality expectations.
• Oversee food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
• Develop, train, and motivate the culinary team to achieve excellence and embrace innovation.
• Partner in menu planning, labor scheduling, and marketing initiatives.
• Provide an exceptional customer service experience to students, faculty, and VIP guests.
