About The Position

Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef 1 to join our culinary team at Carroll Lutheran Village, a large and upscale continuing care retirement community in Westminster, Maryland . Our dining program features a diverse range of venues, including a café, two restaurants, a pub for independent living residents, a skilled care dining room, an assisted living dining room, and a full catering operation. In this hands-on culinary leadership role, the Executive Chef 1 will work closely with and report to the Executive Chef 3, overseeing a team of approximately 10 culinary staff members. This is a great opportunity to grow your culinary career! This position typically follows a 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. schedule, with every other weekend coverage. We welcome candidates with backgrounds in senior living, restaurants, or country clubs who are passionate about high-quality food and service. Requirements

  • a background in food production with strong cooking skills
  • high volume food production experience
  • strong knowledge of safety and sanitation
  • experience training and mentoring a culinary team with exceptional human resource and supervisory skillset
  • experience managing food costs and strong computer skills
  • an enthusiasm for working with a diverse set of people and are confident and warm
  • a positive approach to tasks with a can-do attitude and impeccable attention to detail
  • Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
  • Minimum Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Responsibilities

  • oversee the daily food production for independent living dining operations and catering
  • assist with ordering and inventory management
  • train and mentor cooks
  • build strong client relationships while meeting the expectation of the client as well as Sodexo
  • a strong supervisory/management skillset
