About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide executive assistance and administrative support to the executive level management for the Student Affairs Division. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the division and contributes to the overall strategic success of Howard University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or administration or organizational development.
  • 5-7 years of experience in an administrative role.
  • Master’s degree and experience in a Higher Educational environment or prior experience working with a Senior level Executive preferred.
  • 12 years of related Administrative work experience may be substituted in lieu of educational qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient and professional administrative support to a senior level Executive.
  • Manage and maintain multiple complex schedules, travel arrangements, and speaking/presentation engagements for the Senior Vice President and other members of the Executive leadership team.
  • Monitor, screen, and respond to confidential, high profile and compliance/regulatory incoming/outgoing communications and correspondence.
  • Triage and manage the coordination of consultations, meetings, events, and initiatives associated with communications initiated by the Senior Vice President.
  • Manage the implementation of special projects for the Senior Vice President, including implementing procedures and execution of programmatic aspects of these initiatives.
  • Coordinate administrative procedures between divisional units and offices related to projects and/or initiatives.
  • Conduct research, serve as liaison to external contacts, prepare executive summaries, presentations, and reports related to projected costs, needed resources, impact, and evaluation of initiatives or projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Division’s annual, midyear, and other reports including gathering and compiling data needed for these reports.
  • Assist the Senior leadership team in implementing, reviewing, and evaluating data related to assessment and programs within Student Affairs.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, schedules meetings, and follow up on actionable items as designated by the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with administrative support staff to disseminate, clarify, and promote information regarding the Office of the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs.
  • Draft and edit important communications and documents for the signature of the Senior Vice President.
