About The Position

The New York Times is seeking a dynamic and proactive member of our administrative team to support our Chief Technology Officer and our Engineering organization as they build the products and technology that amplify our journalism. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the department, fostering a positive work environment, and maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. You will be the primary support on everything administrative, and you'll be a strategic partner working alongside the CTO and VP, Engineering Operations in enabling the operations of the organization. This is a hybrid position based in our New York City headquarters, reporting to the CTO. You can typically expect to come into the office three days/week.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience providing administrative support for a senior executive
  • Experience supporting large-scale events
  • Experience collaborating with members of an executive office team
  • Expertise working with the Google suite of tools
  • Experience communicating and building relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the company

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting a C-suite executive
  • Familiarity with Workday HCM
  • Prior experience in a tech organization

Responsibilities

  • Strategically manage fluid calendars, appointments and travel arrangements and proactively manage changes and conflicts
  • Act as a sounding board for executives, helping with daily challenges, long-term projects, and vision
  • Implement departmental communication strategies
  • Collaborate across the admin team to support large-scale events and activities
  • Assist with preparing presentations and documents for leadership teams and drive presentations in meetings
  • Handle a high volume of requests from internal and external stakeholders, including answering inquiries, resolving problems, and making appropriate referrals.
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
