Position Summary: Responsibilities: Develops students’ Individual Educational Plan (IEP), monitors, and provides services according to students’ plans. Develops, plans, and conducts classes for students in a developmental research school setting, including learning experiences and other activities. Develops appropriate transition services or plans, when applicable. Identifies and applies relevant educational research-based instructional strategies. Provides general academic intervention programming and strategies for exceptional students. Meets with students one-on-one or in small groups to assess their current level of performance and provides targeted instruction. Monitors progress of students identified for and receiving intervention, and facilitates entry/exit decision-making. Provides academic advising and other related activities. Assists in developing communication plans and written correspondence for parents of students participating in ESE programming to report progress. Maintains detailed records of students’ progress data and communicates progress to students, teachers, and appropriate administrators. Supports interventions for individual students and groups of students to enhance their acquisition of social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Utilizes relevant technology and resources for optimal engagement and differentiation. Participates in staff conferences, meetings, and curriculum development activities. Participates and engages in professional learning experiences that support professional growth and collaboration with colleagues. Supports social-emotional strategies to facilitate student development in self and social awareness and responsible decision-making. Engages in research activities to further the school’s mission and to generate advancements in teaching and learning. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible for or holds a valid Florida Educator’s Certificate or a Statement of Eligibility in Exceptional Student Education (K-12).
  • 1-3 years of teaching experience in general education and/or exceptional student education.

Nice To Haves

  • Eligible for or holds a valid Florida Educator’s Certificate or a Statement of Eligibility in Reading K-12.
  • Experience developing Individual Educational Plans and transition plans for secondary students.
