About The Position

The Exceptional Children's Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instructional activities that facilitate the educational and social development of students with special needs. This role involves managing instructional time, student behavior, and performance monitoring, while also providing feedback and facilitating instruction in a supportive and equitable environment.

Requirements

  • Degree in education or a related area qualifying for licensure as a teacher in North Carolina.
  • Ability to use various classroom tools and equipment, including those for special needs.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying information and instructions.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems and interpret technical instructions.
  • Skills in maintaining order and discipline in the classroom.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment for lessons in advance.
  • Establish and enforce rules and procedures for student behavior and participation.
  • Present lessons clearly and effectively, ensuring student understanding.
  • Monitor student performance and provide timely feedback on work.
  • Develop instructional plans aligned with curricular goals and student needs.
  • Interact positively with students, parents, and the community.
  • Perform non-instructional duties as assigned.
