About The Position

Overview University Instructors, LLC is seeking talented people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to lead, change, and inspire students in the Durham area. In the role of EC Teacher, you will have the opportunity to serve students and help create inclusive and positive learning environments and experiences. Position Purpose: To plan, organize, and present instruction in an instructional environment to help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development. Teachers may coordinate and direct the activities of the teacher assistant.

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and be willing to enroll in an alternate route licensure program/ educator prep program prior to employment
  • Some Bachelors degree programs may be accepted from nationally accredited institutions please work with your recruiter to verify
  • Candidates must be willing to enroll in an EPP (Educator Prep Program) tuition Assistance Provided to be considered
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 2.7 for all EPP programs
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to use technology and Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with EC students or leading an EC classroom is preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Responsibilities

  • Have materials, supplies, and equipment ready at the start of each lesson or instructional activity; start class promptly; get students on task quickly; maintain a high level of student time-on-task.
  • Establish and enforce rules and procedures for routine administrative matters and student participation; address inappropriate behavior promptly and consistently while maintaining student dignity.
  • Begin lessons with a review of previous materials and clearly stated learning objectives; present lessons using relevant examples and demonstrations; provide smooth transitions and clear summaries.
  • Maintain clear and reasonable work standards and due dates; monitor student progress and check written work regularly.
  • Provide timely feedback to encourage student growth; affirm correct responses and offer guided feedback when needed.
  • Maintain instructional plans aligned with school and state goals; use diagnostic information to revise objectives and strategies; keep accurate student records.
  • Treat all students fairly and equitably; interact effectively with students, coworkers, parents, and the community.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, policies, and regulations; demonstrate ongoing professional growth.
  • Support and ensure implementation of each child’s IEP across all settings.
  • Complete required reports and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
