About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our construction team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In this role, you will operate excavators and other heavy equipment to support excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation activities. The ideal candidate has experience operating heavy machinery, understands job site safety requirements, and can work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

• Proven ability to safely operate excavators and heavy equipment.
• Understanding of basic excavation and construction practices.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and company policies.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing in and out of equipment and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
• Reliability, strong work ethic, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and site managers.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 1 year

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience operating excavators on construction or utility job sites.
• Experience with trenching, grading, and site preparation.
• Familiarity with underground utilities such as water, sewer, gas, or telecommunications.
• Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, or site plans.
• Experience performing routine maintenance on heavy equipment.
• OSHA certification or other safety training.
• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators to perform digging, trenching, grading, and backfilling tasks.
• Follow project plans, grade stakes, and supervisor instructions.
• Inspect equipment daily and perform routine maintenance checks.
• Maintain safe operation of equipment around personnel and utilities.
• Load and move materials as required on job sites.
• Assist ground crews when needed.
• Ensure job sites are clean and organized.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
