The position of Principal Technical Support Engineer at Oracle is a critical role within the Cloud and Exadata Database Support Organization, specifically within the Oracle Solution Support Center (SSC). This team is dedicated to enhancing the operational efficiency of customers' Oracle environments throughout the lifecycle of Oracle solutions. The SSC comprises highly skilled support engineers who are responsible for servicing a designated set of ACS Customers, primarily through remote service delivery. The role requires advanced knowledge of the entire Oracle Database product stack, focusing on both implementation and supportability aspects. As a Principal Technical Support Engineer, the selected candidate will tackle highly complex technical issues related to Oracle Cloud and Exadata On-Prem platforms. This includes a wide range of database technologies such as Exadata architecture, Real Application Clusters (RAC), High Availability, Data Guard, and various aspects of performance tuning and memory management. The engineer will collaborate closely with team members, including SSC Customers, ACS/SSC and GCS engineers, Managers, Account Managers, and product development teams. The role demands a hands-on approach, particularly with UNIX, Linux, and/or Solaris platforms, and the candidate is expected to be recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in their domain. The Principal Technical Support Engineer will be instrumental in problem-solving and avoidance, often being sought after to address critical customer issues. This position requires a high level of autonomy and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The engineer will also be involved in initiatives aimed at improving product quality and documentation, as well as participating in product/platform testing. The role includes responsibilities such as serving as a Situation Manager for critical customer issues, consulting with management on resolutions, and achieving knowledge transfer through training and mentoring.
