Under the supervision of the Manager of Dietary and Environmental Services, the Environmental Services (EVS) Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role is essential to infection prevention and patient safety and requires attention to detail, consistency, and a positive, service-oriented approach. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current AHA BLS (Heart Saver) certification required
  • Basic computer skills (email, electronic health records)
  • Hospital and clinic settings with frequent interruptions
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and cleaning agents
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 51–100 pounds
  • Requires use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital Environmental Services experience preferred, but not required
  • CHEST certification preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, clinical areas, offices, and public spaces following established infection control protocols
  • Perform terminal cleaning of discharged patient rooms
  • Properly collect, handle, and dispose of waste, including biohazardous materials
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure proper storage and labeling of cleaning solutions
  • Track cleaning solutions by open and expiration dates
  • Distribute clean linens to assigned patient care areas
  • Clean and sanitize medical equipment as assigned
  • Follow safety procedures when handling chemicals and hazardous materials
  • Maintain assigned areas in a clean, hazard-free condition
  • Interact respectfully and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Complete assigned duties efficiently and on schedule
