About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Floor/carpet Shampoo; Shampoo all carpets (excluding ball rooms & meeting rooms) using various types of shampoo machines. Spot clean carpets & remove gum using appropriate chemicals & machinery. Strip, wax & buff a variety of interior & exterior surfaces using specialized equipment. Spot clean upholstery & clean public area furnishings. Move furniture & equipment as necessary to complete assigned tasks. Window Cleaning; Clean glass, mirrors, frames, & tracks in public areas. Special projects; High cleaning. Escalator cleaning. Light bulb replacement. Remove snow & spread ice melt or sand on steps & sidewalks. Respond to bio-hazard cleanup & disinfect area as needed. Perform all Utility Porter functions as required such as: Clean restrooms or public spaces, trash pickup & clean offices if needed. Report all maintenance defects. Comply with Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Hotel facilities. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and fellow employees. Use cleaning equipment, i.e. extractors, buffers, wet vac's, escalator cleaner & ride on or walk behind floor cleaners. Comprehend product labeling instructions (written in the English language) in order to safely use products and processes. Remain alert throughout the duration of the shift and remain calm during emergency situations. Comprehend and follow supervisor's instructions. Maintain attendance in conformance with Hotel standards. Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Work with interruptions OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate. Attend and participate in meetings in order to be informed of new rules, regulations and procedures and to discuss scheduling and/or other concerns of the Hotel and/or department. In addition to performance of essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of functions to be determined based upon the particular needs of the Hotel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Grasp, bend, and lift (up to 4 ft.) items weighing up to 2 0 lbs. and carry, or otherwise move supplies, weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis & moving furniture items up to 100lbs . Walk/stand, bend (at neck & waist), twist (at the waist), stoop, climb, kneel, and/or reach (above and below shoulder level) as needed, or for duration of shift, walking 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift. Simple/power grasping and repetitive use of hands are needed to accomplish essential functions.
