Position: Environmental Services Floor Technician Location: Kalamazoo Department: Environmental Services Shift: Full Time - 40 hr/wk, 1st Shift Benefits Eligible Make a Difference in Patient Care! We’re looking for an Environmental Services Floor Technician to help lead the efforts in maintaining cleanliness and infection control across the hospital. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the hospital is a clean, safe environment for both patients and staff. What You'll Do: Clean surfaces in all areas of Bronson Healthcare properties using the proper cleaning tools and equipment Remove biomedical waste from assigned areas Strip and clean floors according to established procedures Polish, shampoo, finish, mop, scrub, vacuum, extract, wash, and clean assigned surfaces Move furniture, remove trash, and perform other related duties as needed Operate power cleaning machines to assist with cleaning tasks Ensure all areas are cleaned to meet high standards of safety and hygiene Follow detailed instructions and regularly check your work to meet quality standards

• Effective April 19, 2021 a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is no longer required for this position.
• Michigan driver's license and insurability may be required
• Must have a practical understanding of Universal Precautions, use of cleaning chemicals and completion of self-inspections.
• Must be able to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English (at or above the 8th grade level) with department staff and internal and external customers.
• Must have the ability to be part of a team concept.
• Work which rarely produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue, i.e., less than 20 percent of the work time.
• Job definitely requires above average strength and/or stamina to regularly lift weights up to 100 pounds and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment and other objects.
• Work may be performed in positions requiring considerable expenditure of effort in reaching, climbing, maintaining balance, or manipulating heavy objects.
• Must have proper training and certification to handle biomedical waste.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in cleaning or floor care is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Maintains / Cleans equipment and stores in proper place.
• Restock supplies as assigned.
• May do laundry
