Responsibilities
- Carries out all duties required to maintain optimum levels of cleanliness and disinfection in the patient care, ancillary, and public areas of the hospital.
- Completes responsibilities as assigned or directed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow the 5-Step Cleaning process and other Departmental processes to perform cleaning duties.
- Operates all cleaning equipment and supplies used by department for various cleaning or buffing jobs.
- Moves heavy objects such as beds, desks, copy machines, etc. for cleaning purposes.
- Identifies medical waste from regular waste and disposes of it appropriately following hospital regulations.
- Performs hand hygiene before and after transport of a patient.
- Wears laboratory coat during transport of a patient.
- Escorts patients within the Medical Center to and from patient units via appropriate means of transportation.
- Transports deceased patients or residents to morgue.
- Maintains records of assignments, including description of person/item, time of pick-up and delivery.
- Ensures safety and comfort of patients.
- Keeps equipment clean and in good repair.
- Participates in mandatory educational and in-service programs.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Understands and adheres to the Medical Center's Code of Conduct.
- Familiar with the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
- Performs related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- Housekeeping experience a plus but not required.
- Minimum of 1 year previous patient care experience preferred.
- Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
- Must possess and maintain Heart Saver Certification.
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
