About The Position

New America’s Future of Land and Housing Program (FLH) works to solve land, housing, and property rights challenges both domestically and internationally. Through research, writing, and convening, we strive to bring technologists, policymakers, advocates, and researchers into the same room to help find solutions to vexing challenges in the housing and land rights space. In our domestic work, we examine the causes and impacts of housing loss, affordable homeownership and the intersections between housing security and climate change, with a particular focus on the impact of structural factors like racism, poverty, and environmental injustice. We take a data-driven approach to understand where housing instability is most acute, who is most impacted, and why; and we communicate these findings to policymakers and advocates, helping to develop solutions. FLH is looking for a candidate to help advance its U.S. land and housing portfolio, which currently focuses on housing loss and insecurity, eviction data, access to affordable homeownership, and the intersections between housing and climate change. This position supports the Eviction Data Response Network (EDRN), which focuses on creating the country’s first large-scale, state-level eviction data infrastructure. EDRN accomplishes this through: Building durable eviction data pipelines that provide reliable, comprehensive, and regularly updated data on evictions statewide; and Standing up multi-sector problem-solving teams that use that data to craft policy and practice interventions that measurably reduce evictions. The ideal candidate is passionate about implementation of large scale change efforts, particularly for housing stability, with experience in coaching partners and supporting learning networks. Familiarity with court eviction data, eviction processes and housing stability are preferred. The candidate should be a self-starter and a good multi-tasker, and capable of working in a fast paced environment on a small, agile team, acting as a primary liaison between the state stakeholders in the EDRN and our team. The candidate should thrive on celebrating wins, driving towards improvement and actionable follow-ups acting as a coach to bring out the best in our EDRN cohort.
