Student employees are a valuable part of the Conference & Event Services staff. We rely on you to provide excellent customer service to the many people who host events on campus. The primary duties of this position include: Event Support · Greet students, faculty, and staff · Use 25Live to track event coverage · Review event diagrams to ensure proper setup · Monitor spaces during events and communicate last minute changes to Facilities and Catering · Complete clerical tasks as assigned Audiovisual Services · Set up integrated audiovisual in event spaces · Set up outdoor sound systems · Assist in setups for complicated audiovisual needs · Inventory equipment as needed Tips for Success: Ø Student employees work up to 15 hours per week. Please clock in and out of Kronos as close to your start and end time as possible. Ø If you are running late or are sick, please send an email Jesse Reed and copy John Hawn. Guidelines for call offs: - Call offs are for emergencies only. An emergency means illness, an urgent family issue, or a last-minute class conflict. Ø We use a program called When to Work to manage schedules. If you need time off, please use When to Work to mark yourself as unavailable. We ask that you change your preferences in When to Work by Wednesday at 5pm for the following week. Schedules are published on Wednesday. You can also use When to Work to request trades with other employees if you have a last-minute conflict. Ø When you are working, you are representing the university. Your nametag is mandatory so clients can recognize that you are there to assist with their event. Dress is casual, but you are not allowed to wear flip-flops or open toed shoes, ripped jeans, yoga or sweatpants, casual shorts, or anything with profanity or offensive language. On occasion, we may require that you dress up for a high-level event. Students will be sent home to change if they are not wearing suitable attire. Ø We have two mandatory training sessions. All employees are required to attend: TBA Ø If you aren’t sure about how to do something, just ask a staff member! We are all happy to help. We respect that, as a student, your studies need to come first. We can be flexible to accommodate your coursework but in return we need you to be responsible.
