About The Position

The Events Manager at The SOMM Hotel & Spa is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of events, ensuring client satisfaction and efficient operations. This role involves acting as a liaison between clients and the operations department, preparing necessary documentation, and managing client relationships to secure future business. The position requires a strong focus on detail, creativity, and effective communication to achieve assigned goals and maintain positive relationships with clients and team members.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of hospitality sales experience.
  • Flexibility to work weekends as required by events and business needs.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to accurately read/write business correspondence.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong personal skills including time management, information analysis, problem-solving, planning and organizing, decision making, and delivery of results.
  • Demonstrates a strong grasp of mathematical operations.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, Excel).
  • Knowledge of hospitality sales platforms is a plus.
  • Proficiency in conducting client research and staying updated on industry trends.
  • Ability to travel for client entertainment and events.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain necessary information for efficient event planning, including meeting setups, food and beverage specifications, and AV requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between the operations department and clients.
  • Monitor client satisfaction throughout the planning and execution of events.
  • Prepare Event Orders, Resumes, Diagrams, and other related documents for distribution to property departments.
  • Conduct meetings to review information with other property departments.
  • Manage accounts and follow up with clients to capture future repeat business.
  • Achieve assigned goals and objectives.
  • Maximize efficiencies for time management and productivity.
  • Forecast revenue of assigned groups.
  • Develop and maintain favorable working relationships with all departments.
  • Comply with accounting standards regarding deposits, direct billing, and pre-payment.
  • Confirm accurate revenue posting and client billing.
  • Develop a full working knowledge of all applicable standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend required meetings and achieve client sentiment goals.
