TITLE: PRIVATE DINING CAPTAIN REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER AND PRIVATE DINING EVENTS MANAGER FLSA: NON-EXEMPT POSITION SUMMARY: The Private Dining Captain works closely with the avec sales and management teams on events to communicate with guests, assist with event prep and set-up, supervise staff and oversee breakdown of events.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED graduate
  • ServSafe Certification required
  • BASSET Certification required
  • Ability to handle stress under pressure
  • Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to be flexible with job demands and open minded when being asked to complete tasks
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the restaurant
  • Ability to move or handle equipment throughout the restaurant generally weighing 0-50 pounds
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates
  • Ability to stand for up to 8-10 hours a day

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a cheerful, courteous disposition and a neat, clean and professional image
  • Captaining private events to ensure guest satisfaction and operational success
  • Reviews BEO and any additional event/timeline notes prior to event
  • Ensure the highest quality of food, beverage and hospitality for all private dining and special events
  • Efficient, accurate and clear communication to all members of the team this includes other service team members, culinary team, management team and Private Dining & Events Manager
  • Assist with printing private dining menus, as needed
  • Lead and supervise room set up in accordance to the event order
  • Lead pre-shift meeting, in conjunction with culinary team
  • Delegating and communicating with the private events team
  • Assist in expediting food, as necessary
  • Welcome event hosts; help troubleshoot/adjust to ensure that everything is to the hosts approval
  • Ensure proper and accurate billing of events in Toast in a timely fashion
  • Responsible for ensuring sufficient operating supplies/equipment for PDR events
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary
  • Be completely proficient with the food and drink menu
  • Coordinate with the Private Dining & Events Manager, FOH and BOH management for any repairs or maintenance needs in the PDR
  • Provide unique and creative ideas to enhance the private dining guest experience
  • Maintain a familiarity with upcoming event details
  • Assists other team members as needed or when business needs dictates
  • Training new private dining team members
