About The Position

Position Summary: The Events and Banquets Captain at Bellerive Country Club (“Bellerive”) is responsible for delivering exceptional, professional, and personalized event services to Members and their guests. Serving as the on-floor leader during events, this role supports service standards, timelines, and Bellerive policies by ensuring they are consistently met while providing leadership, direction, and support to the Events & Banquets service team (“Team Members”). The Events and Banquets Captain acts as the primary point of contact on the event floor, coordinating with internal departments to execute seamless events that reflect Bellerive’s commitment to excellence and hospitality.

Requirements

  • Ability to supervise service staff for proper event setup, execution, and breakdown of all events and event spaces.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service for large and specialty groups.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while demonstrating strong organizational, project management, and time management skills. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, working independently and collaboratively while exercising sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and interpersonal effectiveness, with the ability to communicate and collaborate with Team Members at all levels of the organization while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly and effectively in English, including conveying information accurately and professionally in person, in writing, and over the telephone.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage routine tasks and complex assignments efficiently and with sound judgment.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required to meet operational needs.
  • The physical demands described represent those that a Team Member may be required to meet to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation. These include remaining stationary or mobile for extended periods and the ability to lift, move, or transport up to forty (40) pounds.
  • One to two (1-2) years of experience in a food and beverage role is required.
  • Must be of twenty-one (21) years of age to serve alcohol.

Nice To Haves

  • Secondary education in hospitality, culinary arts, or a related field (completed or in progress) preferred.
  • Prior experience in a private club, banquet, or upscale hospitality environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and support Events & Banquets Team Members during private Bellerive events including but not limited to weddings, Member functions, tournaments, and social gatherings.
  • Serve as the primary on-floor liaison for Members, hosts, and Bellerive management throughout events.
  • Ensure all event spaces are properly set, maintained, and presented according to Banquet Events Orders (BEO) and Bellerive standards.
  • Conduct pre-function lineups with Team Members to review menus, service expectations, event timelines, and Member preferences.
  • Coordinate closely with culinary, bar, and facilities teams to ensure smooth, efficient, and timely service execution.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the event floor to monitor service quality, presentation, pacing, and overall Member satisfaction.
  • Anticipate Member and guest needs; proactively address and resolve concerns with professionalism, discretion, and urgency.
  • Uphold and enforce Bellerive’s service standards, grooming guidelines, etiquette expectations, and policies.
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and performance feedback for Events & Banquets Team Members as assigned.
  • Complete post-event reports and communicate event outcomes, feedback, and opportunities for improvement to management.
  • Assist with event billing and ensure all applicable charges are accurately recorded and submitted.
  • Assist in maintaining banquet inventory, including proper storage, organization, and accountability of service items.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service policies and procedures.
  • Oversee post-event breakdown, cleanliness, and room flips to prepare spaces for future use.
  • Assist with Clubhouse, Field House, and pool À la Carte dining service as scheduled or business needs require.
  • Acts as a leadership representative of Bellerive by rising above day-to-day conflicts, demonstrating sound judgment, discretion, and fairness while reinforcing accountability and service excellence within the Events & Banquets Team.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Events & Banquets Manager, Director of Catering, or other members of Bellerive’s leadership team.
