About The Position

Provides janitorial and set-up/tear-down support to the Event Operations department. This is a seasonal/temporary position not to exceed 122 days. Pre-Fair Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm Fair Schedule: Wednesday through Sunday, 7:00am - 3:30pm W ork schedule is subject to change based on the event schedule and business needs. The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Previous experience with janitorial work necessary.
Ability to successfully handle and prioritize multiple tasks required.
Ability to work well with others a must.
Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with supervisor, co-workers and patrons necessary.
Excellent teamwork skills required.
Must be able to follow basic instructions and be willing to work weekends.
Must be able to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair.

Nice To Haves

Ability to operate forklifts, manlifts, floor scrubbers, carts and hand tools strongly preferred.
Valid California driver’s license.
Basic knowledge of the proper use of hand tools a plus.

Responsibilities

Sets up event related equipment such as picnic tables, umbrellas, trash cans, bleachers, set-up planters.
Sets-up and dismantles a variety of structures for various events held throughout the year at the fairgrounds.
Removes trash from buildings and around the property, and empties and relines trash barrels.
Keeps event trash-free; maintains cleans restrooms and other areas for patrons.
Prepares exhibit buildings for move-in by cleaning and stocking supplies.
Operates a variety of equipment including forklifts, manlifts, floor scrubbers, motorized utility carts and hand tools.
Cleans and stocks restrooms and inventories janitorial supplies.
Adheres to all workplace and job specific safety guidelines, and uses personal protective equipment as instructed.
Coordinates requests from event promoters with other departments including Maintenance and Events Sales & Service.
Provides information to supervisor for event recap reports.
Maintains daily notes on specific tasks assigned and equipment rented.
