About The Position

The Setup Lead plays a key role in the successful execution of meetings, weddings, and special events at the Courtyard by Marriott Mankato Hotel & Event Center. This position is responsible for leading event room setups and teardowns, ensuring layouts are accurate to event orders, and supporting the events and banquet teams with a strong focus on efficiency, teamwork, and guest satisfaction. The Setup Lead acts as a point of contact on setup shifts and helps ensure spaces are event-ready, safe, and aligned with brand standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience in event setup, banquets, hospitality, or facilities support preferred
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow event diagrams and BEOs
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Positive attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to lead by example and take initiative in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute event room setups and teardowns according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), including tables, chairs, linens, staging, risers, and basic décor
• Ensure meeting and event spaces are set accurately and on time, including room layouts such as classroom, rounds, theater, U-shape, and banquet
• Assist with resetting rooms between events and maintaining clean, organized storage areas
• Communicate effectively with the Sales & Events Manager, Banquet Captain, and Bistro/Events Supervisor regarding setup timelines and changes
• Support and guide other setup and banquet staff during event preparation
• Monitor room readiness, safety, and overall appearance prior to guest arrival
• Assist with basic AV setup as directed (podiums, screens, microphones, power needs)
• Follow all safety, lifting, and hotel brand standards
• Provide on-site support during events as needed and assist with post-event breakdown
