Position Summary The Event Security primarily maintains security access and control to all areas of the Owensboro Convention Center & Sportscenter. This includes making routine rounds throughout the facility, providing customer service to clients/patrons as they arrive on the complex and assisting with all incidents as they may arise. This role will pay an hourly rate of $15.00 Benefits for Part-Time roles: 401(k) Savings Plan and 401(k) matching This position will remain open until April 24, 2026. About the Venue Western Kentucky’s award-winning venue – the Owensboro Convention Center – is a full-service facility overlooking the scenic Ohio River in revitalized downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. The multi-purpose center boasts just under 102,000 sq. ft. of available space, including a 44,000+ sq. ft. exhibition hall, the 8,900+ sq. ft. Kentucky Legend® Pier outside over the scenic Ohio River, and additional ballroom, meeting, and pre-function space.

Requirements

Must be 18 or older.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior security experience preferred, but not required.
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must demonstrate a positive, professional, and customer-focused attitude.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to manage high stress fast-paced environment
Able to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to handle adverse situations such as inebriated guests, argumentative guests, volatile-angry guests and related incidents in a calm and professional manner.

Responsibilities

Provide guest safety and security of the venue assigned with an emphasis on Customer Service.
Enforce all venue regulations and policies.
Able to handle large groups of guests
Able to interact with other staff in a positive and productive manner
Maintain control of your assigned sections or area.
Able to adapt to a changing environment
Perform bag checks and security inspections as directed at required events
Anticipate and correct any trouble situations in your area
Know general building information and locations of various amenities
Ensure areas are safe for patrons and staff.
Able to follow verbal and written instructions
Able to work in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc )
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
