Position Summary The Event Security primarily maintains security access and control to all areas of the Owensboro Convention Center & Sportscenter. This includes making routine rounds throughout the facility, providing customer service to clients/patrons as they arrive on the complex and assisting with all incidents as they may arise. This role will pay an hourly rate of $15.00 Benefits for Part-Time roles: 401(k) Savings Plan and 401(k) matching This position will remain open until April 24, 2026. About the Venue Western Kentucky’s award-winning venue – the Owensboro Convention Center – is a full-service facility overlooking the scenic Ohio River in revitalized downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. The multi-purpose center boasts just under 102,000 sq. ft. of available space, including a 44,000+ sq. ft. exhibition hall, the 8,900+ sq. ft. Kentucky Legend® Pier outside over the scenic Ohio River, and additional ballroom, meeting, and pre-function space.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior security experience preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must demonstrate a positive, professional, and customer-focused attitude.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage high stress fast-paced environment
  • Able to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to handle adverse situations such as inebriated guests, argumentative guests, volatile-angry guests and related incidents in a calm and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guest safety and security of the venue assigned with an emphasis on Customer Service.
  • Enforce all venue regulations and policies.
  • Able to handle large groups of guests
  • Able to interact with other staff in a positive and productive manner
  • Maintain control of your assigned sections or area.
  • Able to adapt to a changing environment
  • Perform bag checks and security inspections as directed at required events
  • Anticipate and correct any trouble situations in your area
  • Know general building information and locations of various amenities
  • Ensure areas are safe for patrons and staff.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc )
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
