About The Position

The Event Production Specialist at Whitworth University plays a crucial role in creating high-quality event experiences by coordinating and operating multimedia equipment for campus events. This position is responsible for ensuring seamless event production through troubleshooting, live event support, and collaboration with various stakeholders. The specialist also manages equipment inventory, conducts maintenance, and ensures safety compliance, contributing to effective resource stewardship within the department.

Requirements

  • An associate's degree in a related audio/visual or technical theatre field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in audio-visual setup, event production, or related technical support role.
  • Experience with operating and troubleshooting multimedia equipment, including audio, video, lighting, and staging.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and equipment maintenance is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness and availability to work nights and weekends and serve in an on-call capacity.
  • Ability to perform physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and operating a personal lift.
  • A valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, process, and coordinate the audio/visual, staging, and rigging needs of events.
  • Provide production setup and operational support for campus events including streaming and recording.
  • Design and layout staging, audio, and video aspects of events.
  • Set up and mix front-of-house and monitor feeds using a variety of boards and microphones.
  • Manage concert audio-visual systems including setting up and operating concert lighting systems and multi-channel digital soundboards.
  • Process post-event production reports.
  • Ensure and provide high-quality customer service to campus users and third-party clients.
  • Attend event planning production meetings and assist other departments as needed.
  • Provide institutional support in equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Support special projects, including maintenance and construction of new scenic show elements.
  • Develop knowledge of rigging equipment to operate and maintain it safely.
  • Adhere to and promote all OSHA regulations and participate in required health and safety training.
  • Assist with special projects and other department functions.
