About The Position

To raise funds and awareness for JAFCO primarily through event planning, donor stewardship and Development Team programs. Role and Responsibilities This person’s job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Assist in planning and coordinating special events including luncheons, cocktail parties, card parties, golf outings, and other events with the goal of raising operational funds Handle special event registration, seating, committee support, silent auction and boutique preparation, event set up and execution, pre and/or post event tasks, and follow up as needed Maintain accurate records, calendars, expenses, and income for each event Manage event committees, volunteers, and staff from inception through completion of projects Provide tours on-site and public speaking presentations off-site to new and existing donors or other community groups to raise funds and awareness Assist in the creation of direct mail pieces, newsletters, brochures, fact sheets and other written and digital marketing materials, including the organization of data, information, and photographs Support the Development Team with any other reasonable task requested by the Supervisor

  • Staff must be physically capable of driving an automobile in a safe manner.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field with a minimum of two years related experience in sales, marketing, communications and/or event planning. An associate degree with a minimum of four years related practical experience also acceptable
  • Written and verbal communications: ability to make formal and informal presentations, participate in meetings, write reports and correspondence
  • Proficiency planning and coordinating special events
  • Detail oriented with ability to demonstrate organizational and problem-solving skills, set objectives, complete necessary follow-up, and provide timely and accurate reports
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office in the areas of word processing, database, spreadsheets and light desk-top publishing for flyers and invitations, etc.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed to fulfil the requirements of the position

Nice To Haves

  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Knowledge of community resources and contacts a plus
  • Experience with using fundraising databases preferred
  • Social media experience with Facebook and Twitter
  • Strongly prefer to maintain Bodily Injury Liability insurance of $100,000 per claim, $300,000 per incident on their personal automobile when driving clients
