About The Position

Carnegie Mellon University’s Dietrich College is searching for an Event Manager to join their team for a one-month, fixed-term role. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You should demonstrate: Proven experience managing events, with strong organizational and project management skills. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of partners. Familiarity with immersive or interactive media is welcome, but not required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing events, with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1-3 years of event planning experience required; experience in arts, film, or technology contexts is preferred
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
  • Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with immersive or interactive media is welcome, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of event logistics, including scheduling, space reservations, vendor coordination, hospitality, and on-site execution.
  • Oversee budget tracking and expense management to ensure the event remains aligned with financial parameters.
  • Collaborate closely with the project lead and campus partners to ensure smooth planning and implementation.
  • Support the successful engagement of participants and contributors from media and related fields.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
