About The Position

Be part of a high-impact, rapidly growing nonprofit that’s driving real change across Colorado! Water is one of Colorado’s most pressing concerns, and Resource Central’s Garden In A Box program is leading the way in waterwise conservation. Each year, in partnership with over 60 Colorado municipalities and water providers, we distribute more than 13,000 professionally designed, low-water garden kits tailored for Colorado yards. This position will play an essential role in the distribution of these Garden In A Box kits to participants across the state at events primarily in May and June but additionally in August and September, as well. This is an in-person role that involves driving the company vehicle from the Resource Central Boulder office to and from event locations throughout the state. Most events are located throughout the Front Range in four main service regions: Northern Colorado, Central Front Range, Denver Metro, and Southern Urban Corridor. We have several events that require travel to locations in the mountains or on the Western Slope, including Durango, Grand Junction, Aspen, Eagle, Summit County, and Steamboat Springs. Hours may vary based on event schedule and are not guaranteed; Event Leads can expect an average of 4-9 hour days, three to five days per week during the season. Start and end dates may be flexible based on candidate availability and program needs. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 -$22.00, in addition to mileage reimbursement, paid training, cell phone stipend, and accrued sick leave. We are looking for a passionate individual with exceptional leadership and customer service skills to help support participants in establishing vibrant, waterwise landscapes as the new norm in Colorado!

Requirements

  • Must be passionate about helping people conserve water or a strong desire to learn.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude is required.
  • Availability on weeknights and Saturdays is required.
  • Must be 21 years of age upon start date. Driving the company vehicle to and from our Boulder office is required.
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, access to a reliable automobile, and a smartphone are required.
  • Travel to worksites across the Front Range is required. Travel to other regions like Durango, Grand Junction, Aspen, Eagle, Summit County, and Steamboat Springs, including an extended commute or overnight stay, may be required at times. We provide travel pay and accommodations.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks safely, including routinely lifting a maximum of 30 lbs, walking continuously throughout the workday, and kneeling, lifting, and bending, is required.
  • Ability to safely work outdoors in all kinds of weather including heat, rain, and snow required.
  • Must pass a background check and driving record evaluation if offered a position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating events or leading volunteer groups is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure during fast-paced, high-volume events while multitasking to support safe and efficient garden distribution events.
  • Basic computer, iPad, and smartphone skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Help people save water: Lead safe, well-organized garden distribution events designed to serve customers/participants while supporting volunteers, vendors, and staff.
  • Coordinate event supplies: Prepare, organize, load, transport, and return event supplies, materials, and equipment; assist with event-related administrative tasks as needed.
  • Manage event setup and close-out: Oversee on-site setup, event operations, and post-event cleanup to ensure smooth execution and continuity.
  • Support and guide volunteers: Welcome, train, and coach volunteers throughout their shifts to ensure clarity, confidence, and engagement.
  • Demonstrate leadership: Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members, volunteers, and participants while confidently solving problems independently.
  • Foster an inclusive environment: Help create a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and supported.
  • Deliver excellent customer service: Serve as a friendly, knowledgeable point of contact for all participants, volunteers, vendors, and water partners; respond to questions and resolve on-site issues or escalate concerns to staff.
  • Prioritize safety: Uphold safety best practices during event preparation, setup, and execution.
