Position Overview The Catering Event Chef (KM) is responsible for overseeing all Back of House (BOH) culinary operations during catered events. This includes managing a team of Line Cooks, coordinating menu execution according to design specifications, ensuring quality and timing, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and presentation. The Event Chef works closely with the Event Manager to align service flow with the front-of-house team and client vision. The duties and responsibilities are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and skills required. Additional duties may be assigned as business needs arise. Classification: Non-exempt (hourly)

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of culinary experience, with at least 1 year in an event or catering leadership role.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to dynamic event environments.
  • Food safety knowledge and adherence to health regulations.
  • Professional demeanor and attention to detail in all culinary presentations.
  • Must be able to stand and work for extended periods.
  • Regular lifting and handling of equipment or supplies up to 50 lbs.
  • Work includes indoor and outdoor event environments.
  • Reliable transportation to and from event sites required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED required; culinary degree preferred.
  • Current Food Handler or ServSafe certification required.
  • Proficiency in kitchen and catering equipment operation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct all Back of House culinary operations for assigned events.
  • Execute the designed event menu in coordination with the Executive Chef and culinary team.
  • Ensure all dishes meet Global Gourmet’s standards for quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, plating, and service timing to align with event schedules.
  • Manage load-in, setup, on-site cooking, and breakdown of event kitchen and equipment.
  • Ensure all food is handled and stored safely according to health code and company standards.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate Line Cooks and support staff during events.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to ensure efficient and timely production.
  • Maintain communication with the Event Manager to synchronize food service with front-of-house operations.
  • Provide leadership and troubleshooting during high-pressure service environments.
  • Review Event Pack Lists and confirm all required food, tools, and equipment are loaded.
  • Conduct post-event inventory checks and report shortages or damages.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and culinary departments to ensure timely replenishment and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate event records, including production notes, waste logs, and incident reports.
  • Participate in post-event debriefs and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
