About The Position

Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY, is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor in our Culinary Management program, teaching FSA-235 & FSA-235L: Event/Catering Management. This course provides the student an opportunity to explore the functions of planning, developing, budgeting, marketing, and evaluating meetings and special events. It will provide the fundamentals for executing the management of special events and catering, and will have a lab component throughout the semester (dates TBD).

Requirements

  • AAS Hospitality Management, AAS Culinary Management, or AOS Culinary Arts from a regionally accredited college or university.

Nice To Haves

  • BS Hospitality Management, BS Culinary Management, BS Catering
  • Experience with D2L Brightspace or comparable LMS
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • English and other languages considered

Responsibilities

  • Preparation, instruction, and classroom management
  • Learning management system (LMS) integration and maintenance
  • Instruction and content delivery
  • Preparing and grading assignments and exams
  • Timely responses to student inquiries
  • Assessing student performance relative to standardized learning objectives

Benefits

  • Current adjunct pay rate is: $1,371/credit hour (2023-2024 pay rate)
  • Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Retirement System (pension)
