The Event Assistant at the Fowler Events Center is responsible for performing a wide variety of tasks related to the setup and teardown of athletic facilities and equipment for contests and special events. This role includes assisting with equipment maintenance and administrative functions as assigned by the Director of the Fowler Events Center. The Event Assistant will collaborate with other university departments and vendors to ensure successful events and will assist in overseeing student workers and game day operations.

  • Assists with Athletic events setup and teardown, including press tables, court equipment, bleachers, tables, chairs, barricades, A/V equipment, locker rooms, etc.
  • Ensures all required game/practice equipment are operational and troubleshoots issues as they arise.
  • Assists in preparation of locker rooms, press tables, and other areas for games/practices.
  • Helps oversee student workers engaged in day-to-day operation of Events Center.
  • Oversees chapel setup/tear down with student workers.
  • Implements standard operating procedures for Events Center.
  • Regularly assesses the facility and equipment for unsatisfactory and/or unsafe conditions.
  • Requests parts and supplies as needed to complete tasks.
  • Works cooperatively with other Events Center staff and employees from other departments.
  • Performs general custodial and janitorial tasks as necessary.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.

  • Hourly pay range from $16.00 to $20.00.
