About the position

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites applicants to apply for a full-time, twelve-month tenured track faculty position. Librarian Rank will be assigned at the initial appointment to the position. This is a 40 hours per week evening position Sunday - Thursday 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The schedule during the intersessions and summer will be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and administer evening reference services in-person, by email, or phone during regularly scheduled evening hours while maintaining the print and digital reference collections, research guides and subject guides on the library website.
  • Teach library instruction sessions as assigned, using the integrated library system and multiple databases as the library liaison and co-instruct the one credit hour LIBR 100 Online Information Literacy course.
  • Supervise the library services technician and work study assistants.
  • Maintain and provide analysis of library reference statistics on an hourly basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in library science or related degree from an ALA accredited institution.
  • Must have familiarity and experience using and searching online catalogs, discovery tools and electronic databases.

Nice-to-haves

  • One to two years of reference experience in a school or academic library.
