About The Position

The Evening Manager is responsible for effectively directing and managing all aspects of the store during the evening hours of operation. This role involves ensuring that all store personnel are courteous to customers, handling customer complaints and requests professionally, and maintaining a clean and orderly store environment. The Evening Manager will also oversee the delegation of duties among staff to maximize performance and ensure proper follow-up procedures. Additionally, the manager is tasked with maintaining safety standards, optimal product freshness, and effective merchandising to achieve maximum sales and profits. The position requires implementing fire and safety programs, as well as security standards set by the Loss Prevention Department. The Evening Manager will greet customers, conduct refrigeration checks, provide coaching and support to staff, and ensure compliance with company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a high school education; college education is helpful but not required.
  • At least 1 year of management experience in a retail environment is required.
  • Ability to make critical decisions and provide effective leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills to deal with customers and employees.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.) approximately thirty percent (30%) of the time.
  • Ability to retrieve and place merchandise on top racks in grocery aisles for proper storage, which may be 20% of the time during the shift.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack, step carts, and the 'Big Joe'.
  • Ability to stand upright for most of the scheduled work shift.

Responsibilities

  • Assure courteous service to all customers and handle complaints professionally.
  • Delegate duties effectively to achieve maximum performance.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly store environment.
  • Ensure safety operations of the building and equipment.
  • Ensure product freshness and proper merchandising for maximum sales.
  • Implement fire and safety programs as per Risk Management guidelines.
  • Maintain security standards set by the Loss Prevention Department.
  • Greet customers and thank them for their patronage.
  • Conduct store refrigeration checks throughout the evening hours.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and support to staff for high performance and engagement.
  • Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
  • Assist at the service desk as needed and cover breaks/lunches.
  • Communicate any problems occurring in the evening to the store manager or department managers.
  • Assist in all aspects of the grocery department as needed.
