About The Position

The Janitor at our Smyrna site, plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the facility. This position ensures that all designated areas, including offices, restrooms, production floors, and common spaces, are thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained to support operational efficiency and employee well-being. The janitor will be responsible for routine cleaning tasks, waste disposal, and minor maintenance duties, contributing to the overall appearance and hygiene standards of the workplace. This role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet daily cleaning schedules. Ultimately, the janitor helps create a positive and professional atmosphere that aligns with Nissan Smyrna's commitment to quality and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies, with the ability to follow safety guidelines.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to operate floor cleaning machines and other janitorial equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with supervisors and team members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing floors, surfaces, and fixtures across the facility.
  • Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste and recyclables in accordance with company policies.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, replenishing supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, reporting any malfunctions or shortages to the supervisor promptly.
  • Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and reporting safety hazards or repair needs.
  • Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to accommodate special cleaning requests or events.
