About The Position
This role is for an independent alteration professional specializing in evening and cocktail wear. The primary responsibilities include altering various formal dresses such as evening gowns, cocktail dresses, and gala/black-tie dresses, covering tasks like hemming, bodice/waist adjustments, strap alterations, cup adjustments, and zipper repairs. The work involves handling structured formal dresses with multiple layers, lace, beading, sequins, and linings. The professional will conduct fittings, take precise measurements, and communicate timelines clearly to clients. Delivering high-quality finishing and maintaining an organized workspace suitable for fittings are also key aspects of the role. Additionally, there may be requests for alterations on wedding dresses, prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, suits, and other formalwear.
Requirements
- Experience with women's formalwear and/or evening wear alterations
- Strong garment construction knowledge + precision measuring
- Machine + hand sewing proficiency
- Professional communication and customer service
