About The Position

J ob Title: Evening Custodian Pay Grade: ESP Salary Schedule Job Family: Custodial Services FLSA Status: Non-exempt Department: Custodial Services Prepared Date: July 1, 2015, rev. 7/1/18, 7/1/20, 6/1/25 Typical Work Year: 12 months SUMMARY: Performs routine custodial work and assist with completing and/or facilitating custodial and playground projects. Clean, repair, and maintain assigned buildings, equipment, systems, and grounds in compliance with all safety, health, and District rules and regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Perform and maintain housekeeping throughout buildings and grounds to ensure high standards for cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance Move heavy equipment and furniture, perform groundskeeping work and snow removal as assigned Perform preventative and minor maintenance Coordinate with school facilities for public use and activities Be able to work the assigned shift. Assume responsibility for all custodial duties in the buildings and on the grounds Practical experience in grounds care, housekeeping, sanitation and general maintenance Be able to work with students, staff and the general public on a daily basis Physical demands: extensive standing, walking, stooping, bending, and crouching Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift or move more than 100 pounds

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • 0-2 years experience required in general cleaning, chemical handling, and customer service preferred.
  • Safety and asbestos training required within 3 months after entering a position.
  • Criminal Background Check required for hire.
  • Current Drivers License is required.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to acquire skills necessary to operate various types of cleaning equipment and snow removal equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changes without notice.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, and building/department procedures.
  • Ability to grow and develop knowledge, skills, and attitude through professional development.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.
  • Operating knowledge of basic custodial equipment preferred at hire; required within 3 months after entering position.
  • In this position, a person must regulary lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally move more than 100 pounds.
