Mahmee's overarching goal with infant feeding is to deliver expert-level lactation support and education to families in-hospital and post-discharge. While promoting breastfeeding remains a primary objective, we are committed to respecting a family's right to choose the best feeding method for them. This role will primarily be in the evening from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The goal of this role is to deliver quality, compassionate bedside patient care in the hospital setting to improve breastfeeding outcomes.

Requirements

• Active IBCLC Certification
• Available to work evening shifts: 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on, clinical lactation guidance and support to mother-baby dyads on breastfeeding techniques and challenges at the bedside.
• Educate and instruct mother-baby dyads on hand expression, milk collection, breast pump use, and the use of various feeding devices.
• Document patient care promptly in the company's EHR and EPIC systems.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, physicians, nurses, and occupational and physical therapists to develop feeding plans for a range of infants, from normal newborns to complex neonates.
• Use clinical and critical thinking skills to assess, diagnose, and treat breastfeeding challenges.
• Construct appropriate feeding plans to support the health of the dyad and their feeding goals.
• Counsel patients on breastfeeding techniques and strategies, individualized to the dyad's unique medical needs.
• Monitor and report to hospital staff on patient's progress with breastfeeding.
• Ensure feeding equipment is properly stocked and cleaned.
• Engage in staff education sessions.
