CSG is organized by core customer-facing lines of business to manage and grow programs within the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), while extending our capabilities to other civilian federal government agencies fully integrated within Aerospace rules, regulations, processes, values, and behaviors. Within CSG, the Human Exploration and Spaceflight (HESF) Division provides comprehensive support to NASA across all human spaceflight operations and program office activities. We are seeking an EVA Development Hardware Logistics and Planning Engineer (Project Engineer- Technical Project Management) and the Johnson Space Center. The HESF Division comprises a team of specialized engineers who deliver technical and acquisition expertise, providing critical recommendations to NASA's human spaceflight and space technology enterprise. Our mission is to enable mission success across an extensive portfolio spanning space, ground, and user segments. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering/science or another applicable STEM area
  • 6+ years of progressive technical leadership experience in project management, human spaceflight operations, or related disciplines
  • Experience with NASA Extravehicular Activity (EVA) systems and operations, including knowledge of spacesuit systems, life support systems, EVA tools and equipment, mission planning and execution, crew procedures development, or flight hardware integration and testing
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining complex technical databases with integrated architectures, including establishing database interconnectivity and data flow optimization
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences including executive leadership, engineering teams, and external stakeholders; demonstrated success building consensus across multidisciplinary teams and organizations; polished, professional presentation style
  • Excellent written communication skills with ability to organize complex technical materials, engineering analyses, and programmatic concepts into clear, logical documentation including technical reports, requirements documents, presentations, and executive briefings
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including team building, conflict resolution, and stakeholder relationship management across diverse groups such as suppliers, test facilities, cross-functional internal teams, and external partners
  • Willingness to travel domestically approximately 10%
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related technical discipline
  • Prior involvement in logistics planning roles for defense, aerospace, or comparable complex systems.
  • Experience with NASA Project Lifecycle processes and methodologies
  • Expertise in NASA Human Spaceflight hardware project management (Orion, Commercial Crew vehicles, ISS modules), EVA systems (spacesuits, airlocks, tools), life support and environmental control systems (ECLSS), crew systems and interfaces, flight hardware verification and validation processes, hardware integration and testing, or mission-critical systems operations and maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Managing the end-to-end lifecycle of EVA Dev assets, including integrating, and tracking of EVA Dev hardware like space suit components, Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), Special Test Equipment (STE), Ground Support Equipment (GSE), etc.
  • Maintaining inventory accuracy, coordinating vendor shipments, planning equipment allocation for projects, and managing hardware disposal.
  • Inventory & Tracking: Maintain accurate, real-time records of EVA Dev hardware inventory and asset movement across locations
  • Logistics Coordination: integrating delivery dates for incoming shipments, manifest tracking for in-mission hardware, and tracking of spares.
  • Deployment & Planning: Ensure hardware is prepared for shipment to stakeholders such as test facilities, logistics centers, etc.; manage hardware allocation for project demand (i.e. GFP agreements on the xEVAS contract).
  • Lifecycle Management: Track EVA Development hardware repairs, maintenance, and environmentally responsible disposal.
  • Communication: Communicate with vendors regarding shipment status and inform stakeholders of inventory availability.
  • Database Development and Management: Communicate with stakeholders for database requirements; integration with other key logistics databases to ingest relevant EVA inventory updates; Reporting via real-time display and exporting of inventory status and metrics.
