About The Position

To support Navy Federal’s Data Architecture organization, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Sr Principal Data Architect to develop and implement data strategies and frameworks that align with the organization's business goals. As a Data Architect, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and building end-to-end cloud-based data services. Responsibilities include designing and optimizing conceptual and logical data models, implementing data migration strategies, and ensuring the efficient and secure storage of company information. Your expertise in cloud data platforms will be instrumental in guiding the organization's cloud data strategy, driving innovation, and delivering efficient and scalable data analytics, ML and AI solutions. Requirements

15+ years of data architecture and design experience and 10 years of cloud technologies and cloud data solutions experience.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
Extensive experience as a Sr data architect, with a strong focus on Azure data platform.
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based data analytics, ML. AI solutions using Azure.
Extensive experience in enabling and shaping up data architecture of complex data ecosystem to adopt modern data architecture paradigms like Data Products, Data Mesh, Data Fabric and Domain Driven Design.
Strong experience in data/information modelling (canonical, conceptual and logical data models and data flow charts) at enterprise level, modelling governance and good exposure to data modelling tools and best practices.
A highly capable communicator, both written and verbal, adept in engaging, collaborating, and influencing people across different business units and at all levels of financial service organizations.
Strong knowledge and experience in designing and architecting cloud-based data analytics, ML and AI solutions.
Experience in cloud data architecture and services, including Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Cosmos DB, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Functions.
Successful in driving architectural change that transforms and optimizes complex businesses preferably in financial industry.
Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, structured and unstructured data.
Well experienced with Relational Data Modeling (3NF and Dimensional Modeling) techniques; familiarity with NoSQL modeling preferred
Extensive experience with Data Architecture, Database Design including Data Quality and Master Data Management (MDM) tools, processes, and governance
Experience with ETL and ELT techniques
Strong understanding of big data technologies, data warehousing concepts, and data integration patterns.
Solid understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

Experienced with financial industry data models like Financial Services Logical Data Model (FSLDM) or Banking and Financial Markets Data Warehouse Model (BFMDW).
Preferably experienced with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and Oracle Banking Cloud Services (OBCS).
Experience with data analytics and use of data analytics tools like Power BI and Tableau.
Experience as a Sr data architect, with a strong focus on AWS / GCP Cloud data platform.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive data architecture that aligns with the organization's goals and supports business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
Develop architecture strategy based on modern data architectures like Data Products, Data Mesh, Data Fabric and Domain Driven Design.
Lead the design and architecture activities of cloud-based data solutions using Azure / AWS / GCP to meet the organization's data capabilities requirements.
Design data models (canonical, conceptual and logical data models and data flow. charts) for operational and analytical systems, ensuring consistency and scalability.
Provide thought leadership in optimizing and architecting an Analytical Semantic Layer (ASL).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data engineers, application development and business stakeholders, to understand business needs and translate them into data architecture blueprints, design patterns and frameworks.
Provide technical leadership and guidance ensuring adherence to best practices, standards, and security protocols.
Evaluate existing systems and compute environment, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend strategies to optimize performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Conduct proof-of-concept projects to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of new technologies and methodologies.
Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in cloud data platform services to drive innovation and continuously improve the organization's data capabilities.
Collaborate with internal and external partners for discovery and fit gap analysis to identify and recommend appropriate tools, platforms, and services for cloud-based data analytics, ML, AI solutions.
Provide mentoring and knowledge sharing to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
