About The Position

This position involves a rotating schedule with travel required to project sites. The primary responsibilities include the safe operation and routine maintenance of the vessel’s power, propulsion, auxiliary, and other electro-mechanical and electronic systems. This must be done in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, company policies, and manufacturer recommendations, ensuring the safety of the crew. Under the supervision of a licensed officer, the role includes monitoring, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance, as well as responsible care and use of the vessel’s consumable spares and tools. General vessel maintenance and reporting to the Chief Engineer are also key responsibilities. The position requires creating work plans, executing daily tasks, maintaining inventory, assigning work to assistant engineering staff, and working as a deckhand as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Safe operation and routine maintenance of the vessel’s systems in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Monitoring, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance under the supervision of a licensed officer.
  • Responsible care and use of the vessel’s consumable spares, mechanical stores, and tools inventories.
  • General vessel maintenance and monitoring reporting to Chief Engineer.
  • Create work plan and execute daily tasks in accordance with the established schedule.
  • Update completed tasks with notes in Vessel Management System.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and critical/spare parts on board the vessel.
  • Assign work to assistant engineering staff and monitor completion.
  • Work as a deckhand as needed.
