About The Position

Tyto Athene is seeking a dedicated ETL Data Warehousing Specialist to join our team supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) E-commerce Operations Service Support (EOSS) contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the data warehouse and all related ETL processes. This role is pivotal in transforming raw data into actionable insights for the DHA. You will leverage your expertise in AWS services, particularly AWS Glue, to build a scalable and efficient data warehousing solution that supports the EOSS mission.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a data warehousing environment with a strong focus on ETL development.
  • Extensive hands-on experience designing and building ETL pipelines using AWS Glue.
  • Proven experience with data warehouse technologies, specifically Amazon Redshift.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for complex queries, performance tuning, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in a scripting language, preferably Python, for ETL development and automation.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling, star schemas, and data marts.
  • Experience with data quality and data governance best practices.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to work on-site.
  • Able to obtain a Public Trust/T3
  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty or AWS Certified Database – Specialty certification.
  • Experience with other AWS data services such as S3, Lambda, and Athena.
  • Experience with workflow conversion from one ETL tool to another tool
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and their integration with data warehousing solutions.
  • Experience working in a government or defense contracting environment
  • Public Trust/T3 preferred or the ability to obtain a DoD clearance

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust ETL pipelines using AWS Glue to extract data from various sources, transform it according to business rules, and load it into the data warehouse.
  • Develop and manage the enterprise data warehouse using Amazon Redshift, ensuring data is organized efficiently for analysis and reporting.
  • Create and maintain data models, including schemas, tables, and data marts, to support business intelligence and analytics needs.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data manipulation, aggregation, and retrieval.
  • Implement data quality checks and validation processes within the ETL framework to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications for ETL jobs and data warehouse structures.
  • Monitor ETL job performance, troubleshoot failures, implement optimizations to ensure timely data delivery, and perform unit testing in addition to other duties.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all ETL processes, data models, and data warehouse architecture.
