About The Position

The Global Head of Ethics and Evidence Generation at Save the Children is responsible for leading the strategic development and implementation of policies and procedures related to ethical evidence generation across the global movement. This role ensures ethical oversight of all evidence generation activities, collaborates with various stakeholders, and represents the organization to enhance its capacity for ethical evidence that reflects its impact on children. The position also involves managing a team and facilitating the Ethics Review Committee to ensure smooth operations and compliance with ethical standards.

Requirements

  • Extensive research administrative and ethics experience.
  • Experience overseeing human subject research, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods.
  • Familiarity with research and evaluation in low-resource and conflict settings.
  • Understanding of the Common Rule and global ethical standards.
  • Experience as an ethics reviewer in an NGO setting.
  • High degree of professionalism and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong technology literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in rural education and research with children.
  • Data analytics and visualization experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a large NGO.
  • Fluency in Arabic, French, or Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update the global Ethics and Evidence Generation policy and procedures in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead a team of Ethics and Evidence Generation staff and facilitate the Ethics Review Committee.
  • Serve as the Human Protections Administrator for Save the Children US's Federal wide Assurance (FWA).
  • Oversee agency systems related to the Ethical Evidence Generation function, including resource libraries and databases.
  • Develop a strategic framework to increase capacity for ethical evidence generation across the movement.
  • Assess the capacity and quality of ethical evidence generation protocols submitted in various regions.
  • Deliver training content and materials relevant to ethical evidence generation for staff.
  • Consult on challenging ethical issues in evidence generation.
  • Track progress against strategic objectives for ethical evidence generation.
