Department Overview: Operations Policy and Country Services (OPCS) OPCS plays a central role in WBG's mission by developing and overseeing operational policies, procedures, and strategies. The VPU advises and supports WBG management on a wide range of issues related to country engagement, lending operations, financial management, procurement, and corporate results reporting. OPCS is also responsible for risk management, environmental and social safeguards, and operational learning. Working in OPCS provides professionals with broad exposure to strategic operations and deep insights into the Bank's core business. With almost 200 staff members, OPCS is structured into four departments: * Operations Policy (OPSPO): Responsible for country strategies, lending, and advisory instruments. * Operations Standards Procurement and Financial Management (OPSPF): Focuses on procurement, financial management, and anti-corruption policies. * Operations Standards Environment and Social (OPSES): Manages environmental and social safeguards, policies, and grievance mechanisms. * Operations Strategy, Risk, Results, and Learning (OPSRL): Drives strategy, risk management, results reporting, and learning, while supporting operational effectiveness. Role Overview This position is part of the Strategy, Risk, and Results (OPSSR) unit within OPSRL. OPSSR is leading the data transformation agenda in operational risk, results, and corporate effectiveness assessments. The unit is focused on leveraging AI, machine learning, and data science to modernize the Bank's approach to results, risk and operational data insights. Supporting the development and maintenance of the Operations Data Management System (ODMS) to centralize, integrate, and streamline operational portfolio data, including commitments, disbursements, financial management, procurement, risk analytics, and results measurement. Driving enterprise-level automation of data processes to improve the efficiency and quality of operational analytics. Enhancing the integration, visualization, and reporting of operational data to inform senior management, the Board, and external stakeholders. Supporting corporate engagement with the Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) and other external entities assessing the World Bank's operational effectiveness. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing OPSSR's data transformation efforts, collaborating across Global Practices (GPs), Regions, Information and Technology Solutions (ITS), and external stakeholders. This role involves optimizing data systems and leveraging advanced technologies like machine learning, natural language processing, and AI-driven analytics to extract insights from structured and unstructured operations data.
